Combined Defence Services Examination
The “Combined Defence Services “Examination (CDS) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Combined Defense Service Examination 2015
UPSC CDS (I) 2015 Eligibility:
1. For Officers and IMA Training: Any degree
2. Indian Naval Academy: degree in engineering
3. Air Force Academy: degree in any discipline/engineering with physics and mathematics in 12th standard
Application fee is Rs. 200/- for UPSC CDS exam. This can be paid by using bank challan form or net banking. Women, SC and ST candidates need not to submit any fee.
UPSC CDS Application form 2015:
This can be done by visiting the official website of Union Public Service Commission. The registration of UPSC CDS exam include two parts, part-I and part-II.
After submitting part-I application form, deposit the requisite fee. Then visit the website to complete the part-II registration by uploading the Pass port size photo and signature with fee details.
1. UPSC will release the CDS exam 2015 notification in the month of November, 2014.
2. Written exam will be conducted tentatively in the month of February, 2015.

CDS Syllabus Details: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is going to conducts Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination for recruitment of various vacancies under Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy. The CDS syllabus details is given below.
PAPER – 1: ENGLISH:
The question paper will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of English and workmanlike use of words.
PAPER – 2: GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:
General Knowledge including knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. The Paper will also include questions on History of India and Geography of a nature which Candidate should be able to answer without special study.
PAPER – 3: ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS:
Arithmetic: Number System-Natural numbers, Integers, Rational and Real numbers. Fundamental Operations addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, Square roots, Decimal, fractions. Unitary method, time and distance, time and work, percentages, applications to simple and compound interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, variation.
Elementary Number Theory– Division algorithm. Prime and composite numbers. Tests of divisibility by 2, 3,4,5,9 and 11. Multiples and factors. Factorisation Theorem. H.C.F. and L.C.M. Euclidean algorithm, Logarithms to base 10, laws of logarithms, use of logarithmic tables.
